“Figures” is a straight-up experiment within an experiment. An elementary school teacher whose name is lost to time and the Internet and the memeverse once wrote out a list of figures of speech, but only the first part, and left the second part to be filled in by her students. The results were a mix of beautiful intent, the savagery of innocence, and budding creativity. We set some of the best ones to a driving beat, made up a couple of our own, and the result was Figures. We think it’s one of our best, and we hope you do too.
Lyrics
Figures
No news is impossible.
Better late than pregnant.
You can lead a horse to water, but how?
Well they did it with the reins.
Strike while the bug is close.
Don’t bite the hand that looks dirty.
You get out of something only what you see
in the picture on the box.
Love all, trust me, love all, trust me.
The pen is mightier than the pigs.
If at first you don’t succeed get some batteries.
A penny saved is not much.
Don’t change horses til they stop running.
You get out of something only what you see
in the picture on the box.
Love all, trust me, love all, trust me. Trust me.
An idle mind is the best way to relax.
When the blind lead the blind, get out of the way.
Where there’s smoke, there’s pollution.
Never underestimate the power.
A penny saved is not much.
Strike while the bug is close.
You get out of something only what you see
in the picture on the box.
Love all, trust me, love all, trust me. Trust me.
